About CNIWC

The Central North Island Wood Council (CNIWC) is a membership organisation which aims to lift the profile of the forestry industry by influencing, contributing, initiating and facilitating work that will benefit our industry.

We provide industry support and advocacy, promoting the Central North Island’s integrated production forestry sector which is recognised globally as a prime example of a bio-circular economy and community kaitiakitanga.

What we do

Central North Island Forestry Awards

Our Wood Council hosts the annual Central North Island Wood Council Forestry Awards, which acknowledge and honour the exceptional achievements of local individuals, contractors, and forestry organisations.

Liaison Groups and Forums

Our work includes the BOP Regional Council Liaison Group which aims to facilitate transparent communication and cooperation between regulating authorities and the forest industry for better environmental outcomes. The CNI Health & Safety forum which aims to facilitate the discussion of industry wide health and safety issues for better health and safety outcome.

Wood Council Accord

CNIWC is a signatory of the Wood Council Accord that enables us to work more closely with the other seven Wood Councils of NZ to promote and protect the interest of our industry. Under the Accord we also work closer with our national bodies such as Farm Forestry Association, Forest Owners Association, Wood Processing and Manufacturing Association and the Forest Industry Contractors Association on matters of national interests.
